Remedy has just announced that Control Ultimate Edition will be released for Mac computers on February 12, 2025. The developer didn't mention which Macs will run the game, but it's certain that the game will only run on M-series computers
Control Ultimate Edition includes the original game, post-launch updates, and season pass expansions, and it has not been revealed whether this edition will include updates for current-gen consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
This information comes from the company's Capital Markets Day, a meeting for investors, where Remedy made some other announcements during the meeting, including that it is still working on Control 2
The game was first revealed in 2022 and we haven’t heard much since that original announcement, with the developer noting that the sequel will be an action RPG. This is interesting because the first Control game had some RPG elements, with various weapon and ability upgrades, but I wouldn’t call it a full-fledged action RPG, and Remedy now owns the intellectual property rights to Control, so they can do whatever they want with the game
The developer announced that the original Control will receive a free update early next year that will unlock "some previously released content." He also announced that the critically acclaimed Alan Wake 2 has sold over 1.8 million units since its launch, and the sequel is Remedy's fastest-selling game ever
Finally, the developer has offered some very vague plans to turn both Alan Wake and Control from “great games” into “world-class franchises” by 2030, and we’re not entirely sure what that means, but it likely refers to an expanded pop culture footprint
