Google has launched the Pixel 9 with a cool new standalone weather app that can summarize outdoor conditions using AI and as 9to5Google reports, the company is rolling it out to older Pixel phones running Android 15 with all the latest updates installed, including one from The Verge.
The standalone Google Weather app will pull in saved locations from the built-in weather service already on Pixels to let you track weather in multiple locations, sort weather data blocks, track weather on a map, and get a summary so you don't need to know if an umbrella is needed for the day.
And if you have a Pixel 6, 7, or 8 series device, you may start seeing the new Google Weather app as an update in the Play Store.
As of this writing, the app currently has a 2.3-star rating, with a few complaints listed like one that you can't check the weather in random cities without adding them to your saved locations list first, and Google Weather is a welcome new option for those who haven't found a favorite weather app since Apple acquired and shut down Dark Sky in 2020.
