If you're having trouble writing tough emails , Google has made it a lot easier for you. The company recently rolled out a new feature for Gmail powered by its Gemini AI chatbot
With the new Help Me Write and Polish features, Gmail users can create complete, formal email drafts based on rough notes, and they can also tweak and change the tone of their email with just one click.
It is worth noting that these features are only available to paid subscribers of Gemini AI
In a post on the Google Workspace blog , the company announced that the new tools will be available on the web, Android, and iOS devices. Additionally, the tech giant is also adding a shortcut to the optimization feature in Help Me Write for Android and iOS devices
With the Help Me Write feature, Gemini-powered Gmail has the option to formalize, detail, and shorten a draft, or it can write a completely new draft, enhancing the tone or length of the draft
The second feature, called Polish, is a new addition to Refine, and in the blog post, Google said: “If you enter rough notes in a draft, Gemini can turn the content into a fully formal draft, ready for review, with one click.”
However, it is worth noting that this feature only works when there are at least 12 words typed in the text field, once the user types 12 words or more, the “Improve my draft” option will appear below the text on smartphones.
Users can access Gemini's new editing options by swiping right, furthermore there is another option called 'Write a draft' which can use the typed words as a prompt and continue the email from there
These features are only available to Google Workspace users who have subscribed to the Enterprise and Gemini Business add-on, the Gemini Education and Education Premium add-on, or the Google One AI Premium plan
Meanwhile, the tech giant has started rolling out a “Summarize this email” option on its Gmail app, which offers advanced AI capabilities and is available on Android and iOS for paid users. It summarizes long conversations and provides users with summaries and highlights to save time
This move comes after the addition of the Gemini artificial intelligence (AI) model to Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Google Docs
