Tinder is trying to end the long-standing nightmare of having to look at yourself long enough to choose profile photos , with its new Photo Selector feature using AI to mine photos to pick the ones most likely to get that much-needed swipe
The tool has been in testing since August last year and is finally ready for prime time use. Photo Selector works by automatically browsing through the entire camera roll on the smartphone and using AI algorithms to pick the hottest photos. It's a supercharged version of the previously existing Smart Photos feature
“With Photo Selector, Tinder introduces a digital companion that curates a variety of photos from users’ camera rolls optimized to help users find a match,” the company wrote in a press release
You have to take a selfie and give the system access to your camera roll to get started, and the AI uses that selfie to find other photos and presents you with a selection of the best and brightest glowing ones, and you have to make your final choices and then get married and sail off into the sunset or whatever
Photo Selector will be available to US customers later this month, with a global launch sometime during the summer
