Adobe Adds New AI Tools to Photoshop and Illustrator

Adobe has updated its Illustrator and Photoshop Creative Cloud apps, introducing a host of new features that simplify productivity. Many of the additions leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to save creatives time.

Photoshop has a new Selection Brush Tool for selecting areas by brushing them without having to use Quick Mask mode, and the tool has opacity and hardness settings for hard edges, allowing for smoother selections.

Also available is the Adjustment Brush Tool, which was in beta, and allows you to paint on brightness and saturation adjustments, with options for fine-tuning selections. Photoshop's text-to-image feature is also out of beta, and can be used to create dozens of ideas in minutes using a text prompt and reference images.

Other new Photoshop features include an improved contextual taskbar, support for bulleted and numbered lists, and a detail enhancement option for generative fills.

Adobe Illustrator has a generative shape fill feature to fill shapes with detail and color, and Adobe says users can match the style and color of their artwork to create multiple editable and scalable graphic options.

Text prompts are used to fill in vector graphics to fill the generative shape, and there are options to add styles such as 3D, geometric, or pixel art.

Adobe has improved the Text to Pattern feature in Illustrator, making it easier to create, edit, and scale seamless vector patterns. Vector graphics created with this feature are more visually appealing, and there are new user interface controls and better editing options.

With Mockup, designers can see their creations on objects such as product packaging and clothing, with the tool automatically adjusting the art to fit the edges of the object. Other new features in Illustrator include the Dimension tool for precise sizing, improved selection capabilities, and faster pan and zoom speeds.

These new features are available in the latest versions of Illustrator and Photoshop on desktop, and more information can be found on the Adobe website.
