Now, the website has announced that it will roll out the feature to all users later this month. The feed will first appear as a new tab in the mobile app and will allow viewers to switch between a scrollable feed for live streams and another feed for clips.
As their names suggest, Live Streaming will show users streams from people they already follow and ongoing streams from people who don't rely on their viewing history. Meanwhile, the clip feed will be filled with short excerpts from the live broadcast.
Users will be able to join ongoing broadcasts from live streamers by tapping on streamers' avatars to instantly jump into theater mode.
Twitch will also show when a streamer is live in the Clips feed, so viewers can check them out from there as well.
In case it's not clear, Twitch made it clear in its announcement that the Discovery Feed will only be a compilation of streams and clips from the service and that creators cannot upload to it directly. In other words, highlighting the feed is a game of chance, even though highlighted clips will be given priority over non-featured clips.
However, the Discovery Feed being launched this month is not in its final form, and some users may start seeing the feed as their actual homepage sometime next month, which is what Twitch had in mind for this feature in the first place.
In early March, the company's CEO Dan Clancy said the service was giving its mobile app its first major redesign in years and that the discovery feed would serve as the new landing page.
